The Magpies were held to a 1-1 draw at Tiverton Town this evening, with Olaf Koszela's first-half penalty cancelling out the hosts' opening goal.
There was just one change on the Magpies teamsheet, with Gerard Benfield injured from the opening day, Noah Crisp made his league debut in between the sticks.
In our first away fixture of the new season, the visitors started the more dangerous side, with summer signing Wayne Robinson chasing down a loose ball only to see his strike saved by the keeper.
Koszela then had the ball in the back of the net after good work from Fogden inside in the area, but it was ruled out for offside by the assistant referee.
Somewhat against the run of the play, Tiverton then took the lead on the 18th minute, capitalising on a loose backpass and opening the scoring through Joe Parker.
The visitors looked to respond quickly - firstly with a penalty shout after the Tiverton keeper crashed into Fogden which was waved away by the referee, before Koszela saw his strike saved moments later.
And just 6 minutes later, the referee did point to the spot after the lively Fogden was felled after spinning a defender who then brought him down in the area. Koszela stepped up and made no mistake from the spot, firing the penalty low into the bottom corner for his second goal in as many games.
Crisp made a good stop at the other end before Fogden almost got on the scoresheet himself, after Robinson drilled a shot which was spilled by the keeper, Fogden was quickest to react but it somehow didn't go in.
Into the second half, Koszela went close again after breaking down the right wing, before a free-kick into the box caused pinball in the area before the hosts finally scrambled the ball away.
Fogden found Koszela again on the break only for his curling strike to just go over the bar.
Roberts and Buse replaced Pardoe and Ngalo respectively, and it was the forward who went close next, after good link up play between Corby Moore, Koszela and Fogden, the ball fell to Roberts who fired at the keeper only to see his strike saved.
Fogden and Koszela both had further chances saved in injury-time as the sides had to settle for a point each.
Next up the Magpies travel to Basingstoke Town on Saturday afternoon.
