Brief history of The Bluebells
The club was established in 1906 under the name Yate Rovers. They won the Gloucestershire Junior Cup in 1913/14, but disbanded in the early 1930s.
After reforming under the name Yate YMCA in 1933, the club joined the Bristol & District League. Eventually, in 1969 the club was renamed once more to Yate Town.
During the 2012/13 season, Yate reached the first round of the FA Cup for the first time, losing 3–0 at Cheltenham Town.
The Bluebells won promotion to the Southern League Premier Division South in the 2018/19 season via the playoffs.
The Gaffer - John Rendell
Rendell was appointed manager of the Bluebells in October 2022. He was previously in charge at Paulton Rovers, where he had spent a combined 12 seasons as a player and manager.
Ones to Watch
Experienced frontman Kyle Tooze will provide a constant goal threat for Yate. He followed John Rendell to Lodge Road from Paulton Rovers earlier this season.
Elsewhere, player/coach Darren Mullings will provide experience in the middle of the park for the Bluebells.
Form Guide
The Magpies - DDLWL
Dorchester come into the game on the back of a 3-0 away defeat to local rivals Poole Town. But the Magpies have enjoyed home comforts this season and upset table-toppers Truro City in the last match to be staged at the Avenue Stadium.
The Bluebells - WWLLD
Yate, unlike Dorchester, avoided defeat on Boxing Day, battling to a 2-2 draw with Merthyr Town. The Bluebells finished December with a record of two losses plus one draw and win apiece.
Last Time We Met...
In August, the Magpies took a point from Lodge Road after playing out a 0-0 draw with Yate.
Magpies Team News
Monday’s game is likely to come too soon for midfielder Jordan Ngalo, but defender Kieran Douglas will be available to play after his Boxing Day red card against Poole was overturned.
