Brief history of The Citizens

Winchester City were formed in 1891 as Winchester Swallows FC. Two name changes would occur before the club was christened Winchester City FC.

Throughout its history the club has predominantly played in the Hampshire and Southern League respectively.

During a successful 2003/04 season the Citizens wrapped up a memorable league and cup treble, including the FA Vase.

Last season Winchester earned a place in the Southern League Premier Division South for the first time ever, via the playoffs.

The Gaffer - Craig Davis

Davis’ footballing journey began as a player at Cardiff City, before spells at Bashley, Salisbury, Gosport Borough and AFC Totton.

During the 2016/17 season, he took over the managerial reigns at Winchester from Fleet Town. Davis has managed the Citizens ever since and was at the helm during their promotion charge to the Southern League Premier Division South last year.

Ones to Watch

Forwards Simba Mlambo and Warren Bentley will pose a threat going forward for Winchester, while further down the pitch Dorchester fans will recognise the familiar faces of Jack Torniainen and Ollie Griggs.

Form Guide

The Magpies - WLWWL

Dorchester enter Saturday’s contest unbeaten in the league for 2023, with wins against Yate Town and Hartley Wintney. But we did lose our most recent match against Weymouth in the Dorset Senior Cup.

The Citizens - DLLDL

Winchester have failed to win any of their last five competitive fixtures, recording losses against the Metropolitan Police, Salisbury and Hayes & Yeading United.

Last Time We Met...

In November, the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Charters Community Stadium. Charlie Gunson had given Dorchester the lead, before a Luke King penalty ensured a point for the hosts.

Magpies Team News

Alex Moyse (ankle) remains out, but the Magpies will be boosted by the return of captain Callum Buckley.
