Brief history of The Marine
The club was established in 1992 as a merger between two local clubs in the Hellenic Football League, Supermarine FC and Swindon Athletic FC.
During the 1997/98 and 2000/01 seasons the club won the Hellenic League championship twice, but were only accepted into the Southern League on their second attempt.
Marine have secured promotion to the Southern League Premier Division South on two occasions, via the play-offs. The most recent came during the 2017/18 season with a play-off final defeat of Dorset neighbours Wimborne Town.
The Gaffer - Lee Spalding
Spalding’s footballing journey began as a player and included spells at Wycombe Wanderers and Swindon Town.
After hanging up his boots, he moved into coaching and first crossed paths with Swindon Supermarine in 2012, when he became first team assistant manager.
In January 2018 he took over as caretaker manager and guided the Wiltshire outfit to play-off glory against Wimborne.
Off the back of that success he was rewarded with the managers role on a permanent basis at the start of the 2018/19 season.
Ones to Watch
Swindon Supermarine currently boast the league’s top goal scorer amongst their ranks, in Harry Williams (21), while James Harding and Zack Kotwica will provide further firepower for the visitors.
