Two goals from Tom Bath near the end of both halves proved enough for the Magpies to take their place in today’s second qualifying round draw.

The late second goal sealed the win but Evesham wasted several good chances to force a replay.

Dorchester boss Callum Brooks opted to play Nick Hutchings in goal with Shane Murphy dropping to the bench.

New loan signing Jack Hoey enjoyed an impressive debut but there was no place in the starting line up for Antonio Diaz who joined Murphy, Luke Winsper, River Smith, Dom Panesar-Dower and Jason Brookes on the bench.

Evesham’s Jordan Sangha posed an early threat firing over from 20 yards. Sangha then forced Hutchings to dive to his right to turn aside a low drive.

At the other end, Hoey’s cross proved too high for Bath. Kyle Egan pulled off a good challenge to thwart the run of Bradley Masken-Jones while defensive colleague Callum Rose headed clear a Lee Chilton corner.

Dan Strugnell shrugged off Kai Tonge to win a goal kick before Chilton fired wide for the Robins.

Hutchings pulled off a good save to deny Jack Cresswell before Charlie Davis accepted a pass from Hoey but saw his low shot saved by home stopper, Lachlan Robertson who grabbed the ball after initially parrying.

Sangha then fired wide while Hutchings read the danger well as Chilton looked to set Cresswell clear.

After soaking up Evesham pressure, Dorchester moved forward themselves with Tiago Sa exchanging passes with Hoey to find Cameron Sangster whose shot flashed wide.

A Sangster free-kick, awarded for a foul on Egan, was blocked while Tonge cleared the Magpies crossbar and Hutchings saved from Chilton.

Strugnell nearly scored for Dorchester but his far lost header from a left-wing Davis corner deflected just wide.

But the deadlock was finally broken four minutes from the break when a Davis corner was met by Bath whose powerfully glanced header flew into the top corner.

Evesham fought hard to restore parity in the second half.

Egan cleared away an early Aaron Roberts cross while a superb tackle from Neil Martin halted Tonge’s run into the box.

At the other end, a Billy Lowes shot struck Bath but rebounded back to Lowes whose second effort was saved by Robertson.

Tonge then fired over for the Robins before Strugnell dispossessed Maslen-Jones.

Lowes then picked out the run of the lively Hoey who fired just wide.

A fierce cross from Evesham substitute Mark Magee just eluded Chilton in front of goal before a looping header from Bath was adjudged to have bounced off the Robins’ crossbar from an Egan right-wing delivery.

Rose found himself unusually high up the pitch but his shot was blocked while back at the other end, Magee just failed to connect with a menacing cross from Sangha.

Dorchester came close to making the game safe when Bath’s effort was saved but Egan retrieved the ball to find Hoey whose cross-shot was turned aside by Robertson.

From a Bath lay off, Lowes then fired wide while Bath chased a Davis clearance but could only shoot straight at Robertson.

Evesham looked increasingly dangerous and only the goalpost saved Dorchester when Sangha sent a 25-yard drive thunderbolt towards Hutchings.

Tonge had an even better chance to equalise when played clean through but sent his close-range attempt straight at Hutchings.

Robins’ hearts were broken as stoppage time approached when Egan’s run and pass set up a far post tap in which Bath took to double Dorchester’s lead and effectively ensured the Magpies took home the prize money.
