Goalkeeper Nick Hutchings agrees to Magpies stay

Dorchester Town Football Club are delighted to announce that Nick Hutchings has agreed terms to remain with The Magpies for the 2019/20 season.

The goalkeeper initially joined the club in December last year following an eight-year spell at Poole Town and becomes the 15th player to sign up ahead of the new season so far.

After agreeing terms for another year with The Magpies last week, Hutchings said: “There is a real feel-good factor around the place at the moment. Since I came into the club I’ve just felt really welcome and I’ve really enjoyed my time here.”

“Last season with Kingsley we had a real good working relationship and it will be the same with Shane this year.”

“I’m just delighted to sign up for another season and see what this group of players can do.”

Manager Callum Brooks said: “Obviously I’ve been at other clubs with Hutch – he’s a player who I’ve worked with quite a lot over the past few years and I’ve got a tremendous respect for him not only as a goalkeeper but also as a man.”

“He’s developed his game, he’s got good leadership skills and he’s also very good at coaching the back four for me – it’s important that I have people in my group that can help me deliver my messages.”

“When I came in, I decided to go with Hutch for the remaining games due to the experience which he’s got under his belt. Now moving forwards into the new season that kind of experience is just as important. His experience helped us out in a relegation fight last year, but with Hutch you’ve got a character there who has won leagues, won individual accolades and set clean sheet records – so to have that kind of experience on my team buying in to how I run the football side is again good business.”

“If any team is going to do well you need competition all over the park and the goalkeeping department needs to be exactly the same. We have to keep raising the bar so the best eleven will play and we want to be competitive on the field for sure.”

“I look forward to having another positive season with Hutch, and I’m also looking forward to the impact that he’ll have on Shane, who is a keeper looking to go on and have a career similar to his.”
