MATCH PREVIEW: Dorchester Town v Salisbury

BY: Tom Berry | @TJBerry95

Dorchester Town Football Club will welcome the players, supporters and officials of Salisbury Football Club to The Clayson Stadium for this Evo-Stik League Southern Premier South fixture (KO 15:00).

Who are The Whites?
Formed in 2015 from the ashes of the previous Salisbury City FC, The Whites have been on an upward trajectory since. After winning the Wessex League in their first season of competition, they reached the play off final in their first year in the Southern League Division One South & West, however they were defeated 2-0 at home to Tiverton Town. However, they finished runners up the following season to clinch promotion to the Southern Premier League. Manager Steve Claridge has been in charge since the formation of the club, as well as sitting on the board of directors.

One to Watch
Midfielder Tom Whelan has put in a number of impressive displays across the last few seasons. Whelan has been a member of the Whites squad since the reformation in 2015 and the former Poole Town player has become a true fans favourite.

Have We Met Before?
The only league clash between the two since the Whites reformation saw the Wiltshire side come out 3-0 winners back in August. Before this, the two sides met twice in the Southern League Cup, with Salisbury coming out on top in both encounters.

Form Guide
Salisbury come into the fixture having picked up two wins in their last six league fixtures, a 3-2 win over Farnborough and a 7-1 victory against relegated Staines Town. A 1-1 draw against Chesham United and defeats to Kings Langley, Tiverton Town and Gosport Borough complete their last six games.

The Magpies have picked up 11 points from the last six games. Wins against Merthyr Town, Basingstoke Town and Walton Casuals along with draws against Farnborough and Hendon go alongside a defeat to Beaconsfield Town in the last home fixture.

Team News
Luke Winsper made his return to the bench in the last fixture at Hendon whilst Neil Martin got more minutes after his comeback in the Beaconsfield fixture. Defender Ross Carmichael continues to be a doubt after suffering a knee injury.
