Today Dorchester Town Football Club will welcome the players, supporters and officials of Basingstoke Town Football Club to The Clayson Stadium for this Evo-Stik League Southern Premier South fixture (KO 15:00).

Who are The Dragons?
Formed in 1896 after the merger of two local clubs, Basingstoke Town played in local leagues before promotion to the Southern League. They switched to the Isthmian League, bouncing between the Premier and First Divisions before promotion to the Conference South. They stayed at Step 2 until relegation in 2016. Since then, they have played at their current level, which including a spell as a full time side in 2016/2017.

One to Watch
Attacking midfielder Sam Smart has been in truly sensational form over the last couple of seasons. The 20 year old, who has been on trial at both Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland over the last few months, netted over 20 goals in the 2017/2018 season and has continued the fine form into the current campaign. Smart’s superb form has also seen him called into the England C squad.

Have We Met Before?
In the 2017/2018, the two sides met on three occasions. Firstly, the Magpies came out 1-0 winners over Basingstoke in an early season game before drawing 1-1 at The Camrose. Dorchester also knocked the Dragons out of the FA Trophy, winning 2-1.

This season, the reverse fixture saw a late winner for The Magpies. After going 1-0 down in the second half, The Magpies equalised quickly before netting in the 90th minute to claim all three points.

Form Guide
The Dragons have won three out of their last six outings. They defeated Staines Town by a massive 10-3 score line before a 3-0 win against Kings Langley and a 2-0 victory over Swindon Supermarine. This period also saw defeats to Chesham United, Salisbury and Hendon.

Since the arrival of Callum Brooks, The Magpies have claimed four points from their two away games. First, goals from Ben Seymour and Tom Blair were enough to grab a point at Farnborough before the midweek thrashing of Merthyr Town. Goals from Luke Winsper, Tom Blair and Ben Seymour, alongside braces from Antonio Diaz and Noah Keats saw Dorchester leave Wales with a 7-1 win and all three points.

Team News
Defenders Brennan Camp and Joe Low both return to contention after injury and suspension. Confirmed absentees for The Magpies are Tom Blair who starts the first of a two match suspension following his 10th caution at Farnborough and captain Neil Martin, who will be out for a few weeks after having his appendix removed.
