MATCH PREVIEW: Dorchester Town v Frome Town

BY: Tom Berry | @TJBerry95

Dorchester Town Football Club will welcome the players, supporters and officials of Frome Town Football Club to The Clayson Stadium for this Evo-Stik League Southern Premier South fixture (KO 19:45).

Who are The Robins?
Founded in 1904, Frome spent their early years in local leagues before joining the Western League. Here they stayed, off and on, until promotion to the Southern League in 2009. In the 2003–04 campaign the club gained media attention when they asked local white witch Titania Hardie, to help improve their home form as they struggled at Badgers Hill.

The witch blamed the decor of the changing rooms, and once the club changed them the team won eight of their nine remaining home games.

In only their second season of Southern League football, Frome defeated Sholing 1-0 in the Division One play off final. This secured them Southern Premier football for the very first time, something they have managed to keep hold of since then.

One to Watch
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers prospect and Northern Ireland international Johnny Gorman signed for the Robins In late 2018. Gorman made his Premier League debut in 2012 but bizarrely made his international debut nearly two years previously, coming on as a 17 years old against Turkey in 2010. Despite dropping down the leagues since, Gorman brings a wealth of experience despite his relatively young age.

Have We Met Before?
The reverse fixture in November saw a tense affair in Somerset. A nervy encounter saw the Magpies return home with all three points however. Ben Seymour’s second half penalty giving Dorchester the 1-0 win.

Form Guide
The Robins come into the fixture in mixed form. Two good wins, a 4-0 success away to Swindon Supermarine and a 1-0 home win against Wimborne Town are accompanied by a 3-0 home defeat to Met Police and Saturdays 3-1 loss to relegation rivals Gosport Borough.

The Magpies picked up their first home win in five months on Saturday. A Ben Seymour brace sandwiched a Luke Winsper tap in to secure a 3-2 win over play off chasing Harrow Borough. Prior to this, The Magpies had not won since the 1-0 win at Poole Town in early January.

Team News
Callum Rose will miss out again as he continues his recovery from the injury he picked up against Poole Town. Whilst fellow defender Brennan Camp is set to miss both this fixture, as well as Saturdays clash with Staines Town, due to being on international duty with the Scotland Under 19 squad.
