MATCH PREVIEW: Dorchester Town v Poole Town

BY: Tom Berry | @TJBerry95

Dorchester Town Football Club will welcome the players, supporters and officials of Poole Town Football Club to The Clayson Stadium for this Evo-Stik League Southern Premier South fixture (KO 15:00).

Who are The Dolphins?
Established in 1890, with the merger of Poole Rovers and Poole Hornets, the club went under many names until they settled on Poole Town in 1934. The Dolphins had a numbers of good FA Cup runs, hosting the likes of Watford and Queens Park Rangers at Poole Stadium. They had to leave the speedway stadium in 1994 due to the pitch not being regulation size.

Following groundshares at Hamworthy United, Holt United and Haskells Rec, they found a permanent home at Tatnam. They have climbed their way through the divisions, slowly upgrading facilities as they went along. They reached the National League South in 2016 and had two seasons there before relegation back to the Southern League in April 2018.

One to Watch
Eastleigh loanee James Constable has a wealth of experience to his name. The 34 year old can count Walsall and Oxford United as a couple of his former clubs as he adds a number of Football League and National League appearances and goals to the Dolphins.

Have We Met Before?
The sides met in the reverse fixture earlier this month with the Magpies coming out on top. Ben Seymour’s strike was enough to see off the Dolphins in a tight contest. Earlier in the season, Poole knocked the Magpies out of the Southern League Cup. A Tom Blair goal in a 1-1 draw was not enough as Poole went through on penalties.

Form Guide
Since the defeat to The Magpies, Poole have only won once. This came in a 2-0 victory away to Tiverton Town. Since then, a 5-2 home defeat to Swindon Supermarine was followed by a 3-3 draw with Harrow Borough.

The Magpies haven’t won since the midweek encounter with the Dolphins earlier this month. Since then, defeats away to Barnet and at home to Farnborough were followed by a 0-0 draw last time out away to Chesham.

Team News
Richard Gillespie and Tom Blair are hopeful of returning after missing last week’s stalemate at Chesham through injury and illness. Josh Williams and Dom Panesar-Dower look set to miss out however through illness.
