Yeovil Town in Avenue Romp

Dorchester Town only just managed to avoid another double-figure pre-season defeat at the Avenue last night, as James Hayter and Sam Hoskins both hit hat-tricks in a 9-0 win for the rampant Glovers.

Gary Johnson’s men showed their class throughout and at one stage it looked like they could match the 11 that Bournemouth put past Dorchester last month.

Speaking to the Dorset Echo  after the game, Simkin said that, like the Bournemouth fixture, taking up the offer of playing a team like Yeovil was always difficult to turn down from a financial point of view.

“In my heart of hearts, I knew what was going to happen tonight, but I can’t turn around and not play it because we were going to be hammered,” he said.
