MATCH PREVIEW: Dorchester Town vs Heybridge Swifts – Buildbase FA Trophy 2Q

BY: Tom Berry.

Tomorrow the Magpies will welcome the players, officials and supporters of Heybridge Swifts to the Avenue Stadium for the 2nd qualifying round of the Buildbase FA Trophy (KO 3.00pm).

Who are Heybridge Swifts?
The Essex side were founded in 1880 and have played at their Scraley Road ground since 1966. Managed by Jody Brown, Swifts currently ply their trade in the Bostik League North Division, one step below The Magpies.

Form Guide:
The Magpies come into the game on the back off two straight wins. Defeating Basingstoke Town in the previous round of the Trophy before Sam Lanahan’s 93rd minute winner against Biggleswade Town last Saturday.

Our visitors have only tasted defeat once this season in league action, winning seven of their eight fixtures so far. However, they sit in the false position of 9th due to their wonderful Emirates FA Cup run, which saw them reach the first round proper, equalling the clubs best ever performance in the competition.

They exited the cup on Sunday at the hands of Sky Bet League One side Exeter City, going down 3-1, despite a valiant effort.

Who to Watch:
The Magpies will need to keep their eyes on Swifts formidable strike partnership of Spaniard Joan Luque and Samuel Bantick, who netted the consolation at Exeter on Sunday. Both players have reached double figures already this season.

Team News:
Captain Gary Bowles is doubtful for the clash due to a knee injury sustained in last weeks victory over Biggleswade whilst the Magpies may also be without influential midfielder Luke Winsper, who is struggling with a knee injury. Crit Clarke is also  a doubt.

Ollie Griggs remains on the side-lines as he awaits an operation for a hernia. Meanwhile, forward Rory Fallon is on international duty with New Zealand, as he tries to help the All-Whites secure a place in next year’s World Cup finals in Russia.
